Operations Support Unit

The Operations Support Unit (MEU) was set up on 1 January 2005 as the most recent section of the Training, Information and Specialized Studies Division. MEU compiles historical and regional cultural information in preparation for and support of operations, in particular with its series "Wegweiser zur Geschichte" (A Guide to History). In cooperation with civilian research institutions and Bundeswehr agencies, our team operates within a network ensuring quick access within the Joint Support Service (SKB) to historical and political information on crisis regions In which Bundeswehr personnel is deployed.

MEU products are created in close coordination with other Bundeswehr agencies providing services to assist units in preparing for operations. They include the Psychological Operations Center (PSYOP Center), the Bundeswehr Geoinformation Office, and – especially for issues concerning communication with the contingents abroad – the Bundeswehr Operations Command.
